Matthew Yglesias recognizes that in those long-ago days when he was a hawk he should have listened to Daniel Davies's question: "Can anyone... give me one single example of something with the following three characteristics: (1) It is a policy initiative of the current Bush administration. (2) It was significant enough in scale that I'd have heard of it (at a pinch, that I should have heard of it). (3)It wasn't in some important way completely f***** up during the execution?"

A new troika!
Moe is thinking about the Iraq war;
Larry is thinking about Obamacare;
Curly is thinking about several post offices Bush opened.

By 2/3rds each:
* It was a Bush administration initiative;
* It was significant;
* It was competent.

And here’s an Obama troika:

Moe is thinking about killing Bin Laden;
Larry is thinking about passing Obamacare;
Curly is thinking about selling the Syrian war.

By 2/3rds each, this Obama administration initiative is:
* competently executed;
* domestic politics;
* military-related.
