The Best Merchandise
Once upon a time a Spaceship made planetfall. Onboard were wealthy merchants, bearing cargoes of jewels and gadgets and drugs and weapons; but also on board were two threadbare computer nerds, bearing nothing but the clothes on their back and the knowledge in their heads. When the ship hit atmosphere, its hull buckled; passengers and crew fled to the life-pods just before the ship burned up; all were saved but the cargo was destroyed. The merchants right away were paupers, but the two nerds set up shop, and right away had work and wealth.
Moral: Knowledge is the best merchandise.
