A point of nomenclature

A point of nomenclature

Who are the “job creators”? The consumers, of course, for they supply the demand that runs the market. They are the ones whom the jobs are done for. Now, there exists another economic class, also called “job creators”; but this is an Orwellian reversal, for the CEOs thus described make their fortune by destroying jobs, by automation, outsourcing and other tactics; so really they should be called job destroyers.
The job-creating middle and lower classes, and the job-destroying upper classes, ought to be in a dynamic balance, like the bone-creating and bone-destroying cells in our skeleta. The job-destroyer’s drive for efficiency increases output, so they do have a role; indeed ultimately it is to undo the curse of Adam;  but that role should not be mis-stated. They are job destroyers; that is their job; one which lately they have done very, very well; maybe too well.
