Genius or Hack?
Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that there is a God, and that this God is a creator; and that furthermore one wishes to please God. But how?
That depends on what sort of creator God is; for there are at least two types of creative personalities. There is the Genius, and there is the Hack.
The Genius is shy; not good with crowds, or people for that matter; and besides the Genius doesn’t want personal adulation. The Genius wants you to love the Genius’s artwork; for what the Genius loves is Art. The Genius loves Making, and wants you to love it too. To please a Genius, praise the creation.
Whereas the Hack is in the art game for fame and glory. The Hack craves personal attention, and will say anything to get it. The work itself is a means to an end. To please a Hack, praise the Hack.
Is God a Genius or a Hack? If you believe the former, then by all means praise God’s Creation. If you believe the latter, then by all means praise God.
