Insensitivity
Once upon a time a Pyromaniac collected barrels full of
gelignite in his basement. A neighbor discovered this, and raised an alarm; but
the Pyromaniac replied, “How dare he disturb the peace with his loud, flashy,
dangerous and hurtful words?” The Men in the White Coats were so impressed by
this reasoning that they gave the Pyromaniac free room and board for the rest
of his life.
Moral: Self-pity is its own reward.
