On the Crimes of Scholarship

         On the Crimes of Scholarship

Religion, science and philosophy are human activities, and as such are complicit in the virtues and vices of human politics. In particular, there have been many crimes committed, and wars waged, for the sake of religion, and by means of science; but I have never heard of a single misdeed done, for the sake of science, and by means of religion.
For instance, curses do not work; and we know this because if they did then the DoD would spend a billion dollars a year on them.
Philosophy is innocent of both crimes. It has never inspired harm, or effectuated it.
